Are you missing the summer big screen movie experience with family and friends? Well, wait no more because Walmart has a gift for you.
Only Wednesday July 1, Walmart announced it has partnered with Tribeca Enterprises to transform 160 of it stores parking lots into drive-in movie theaters. The drive-in theaters will be contact-free to allow families to enjoy movies safely in their own car.
Beginning in August, Walmart plans to hold a “red carpet experience” with filmmakers and celebrities making an appearance on the big screen.
Walmart says it will also offer picnic baskets that families can order using curbside pickup on the way to view their movie.
“Summer hasn’t really felt like summer yet, and I know I hear every day, ‘Mom, I’m bored!” Janey Whiteside, chief customer officer, Walmart, said in a press release. “Through our digital means and vast footprint of stores, we’re hoping to bring some summer fun to families across the country. We know Walmart plays a role in our communities that extends far beyond getting them necessary supplies, and we see that now more than ever.”
The drive-in experience will run through October.
