Winter gives us travelers a great opportunity to take advantage of travel deals, fewer crowds, and a whole new bunch of activities made for colder temperatures. Whether you’d like to hit the slopes or the hot springs, there are tons of holiday hot spots to choose from. Here are 4 magical places to visit in winter that you won’t be able to resist dreaming about.
Magical Places to Visit in Winter
1. Banff National Park, Alberta
As much as it makes me sound like a stereotypical millennial, Banff National Park is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. From bright blue glaciers and frozen rivers to ice sculpture competitions and skiing, Banff is the place to be. I highly recommend riding the gondola up the Canadian Rockies. The feeling of being on top of the world is absolutely worth it.
2. Lapland, Finland
Lapland, the northernmost region of Finland, is the ultimate winter wonderland. Lapland is full of things to do but is known for its dog sledding, reindeer, and stunning views of the northern lights. If you’re on the lookout for Santa, your best chance of finding him is in this area of Finland.
3. Nagano, Japan
Home to some of the world’s best powder, Nagano is one of the most stunning locations to enjoy during winter. Whether you go snowshoeing in the mountains, take a dip in the local hot springs, or gain some speed while coming down the slopes, you’ll have an incredible time in Nagano. If you’re lucky, you may even see some snow monkeys!
4. Prague, Czech Republic
Prague is one of the most fairytale-like cities to visit during the winter. The colder season often leads to smaller and fewer crowds, making it a great time to visit. Known for its Christmas markets, mulled wine, and tasty sausages, the capital is a must add to your travel bucket list!
