Disney Parks Could Open In July But May Require Mask…

Disneyland and Disney World will see a new reality once the parts are able to open for guest.

The popular theme parks in North America were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In an interview with CNBC, Disney CEO Bob Chapek discussed plans that would be implemented to protect guest once the parks open.

Chapek said, “Along with social distancing, one of the things that we are likely going to require is masks for both the cast and the guest. And I think the masks for the guest will be something that, culturally is different.”The Disney CEO is referring to Asian countries and cultures who have become accustomed to wearing masks even before the current pandemic.

In reference to the reopening of Shanghai Disneyland he said, “In Asia, as you know, it’s fairly commonplace, even before COVID-19, for folks to walk around in public with masks on. That is not the case in the U.S. So that will be something that will be a little trying for some of our guest, particularly in hot, humid summers that we tend to have.”

While many expect the parks could open in July, Chapek did not offer an official date for the North American parks to open.
Shanghai Disneyland reopened its park on May 11th.
